The Coromandel Community Arts Council runs this large gallery. Exhibitions are held by artists and craftspeople from the Coromandel Peninsula in particular and New Zealand in general. Opening hours from 10am till 4pm daily during exhibitions.

Driving Creek Potteries
Attractions include working potteries, packaged mini-bricks “for kids of all ages”, sculpture garden, ceramic murals, native wildlife sanctuary (guided tours by arrangement) and of course, the unforgettable 1 hour train ride, up through planted native forest to the ridge-top Eyefull Tower. The train passes sculptural, ceramic artworks on the way. The craft shop stocks a unique range of home-made crafts, souvenirs and literature. Ecology, history and children’s books about nature feature in our bookshop. Tickets available in the shop. Safe parking and public facilities include toilets and picnic areas.

Tiki Studios
Tucked away in a tranquil corner in the heart of Coromandel Town, the gallery at Tiki Studios is a calm contemporary space stocking New Zealand artwork including paintings, ceramics, glass, wood and gorgeous textiles. We also have a vibrant and varied selection of tasteful affordable gifts. The modern and spacious studio/workshop at Tiki Studios provides a wonderful space for the painting and textile classes included in our Art Holidays; tuition is given by local artists.

Many of our local artists are to be found in studios within their own homes. Some of them are open all year round and others only open their doors in the month of May as part of the Great Coromandel Arts Tour.
Kowhai Watercolour Studio
Barbara von Seida paints in acrylics and watercolours, with the emphasis on colour and mood, featuring vibrant scenery, still life and florals. The Studio also includes works by Patrick Greene focusing on local scenes. Both are multi award winning artists, who are recognised by their bold and distinctive styles. Also – private accommodation available with uninterrupted sea views.

Lorraine Abernethy’s original fabric dolls appear in collections and publications worldwide. Her love of texture and colour flourishes in the fabric collage method she uses to dress her dolls. Puketai Pottery
Petra Meyboden produces a wide range of gas and wood-fired, domestic stoneware pottery, including salt glazed pots. “My pots are freely and sensitively decorated, thrown with an ease which gives them lightness and life! They are a delight to use. Outside my big wood fired kiln and studio there is a sculpture garden with beautiful work, mainly totems, big and small.”

Studio 531
Stuart Fyfe is a ceramic artist and potter who produces hand-built platters and bowls depicting natural forms, inspired by the local landscape. He also produces hand-thrown, domestic stoneware. His work has been exhibited in the Wairarapa, Wellington and Auckland. From hand built bowls and sculptural pieces, to domestic ware, these high fired bowls and platters are decorated with traditional reduction fired glazes.The Chinese Chun,Celadon, and Copper Red glazes offer special effects when in combination with the textural iron bearing clay body.
