Kona Colville Connection
13 March 2010
This 72km ride starts in Colville, passes through hilly country up the east coast to Stony Bay, and in 2009 with a one-off permit from DoC, will round the remote end of the peninsula on the coastal low level walkway to meet the road end at Fletcher Bay, before returning to Colville along the unspoiled rocky coastline.
Top riders break 3.5 hours. Average riders take 5 – 6 hours and casual riders 6 – 7 hours.

The Great Coromandel Arts Tour

The Great Coromandel Arts Tour is a wonderful 9 day Art Adventure through some of the hidden creative corners of Coromandel.  The tour will run for three consecutive weekends.
The 2010 Arts Tour is shaping up to be pretty awesome, actually its shaping up to be more of an arts festival, a celebration of Coromandel’s immense creativity.

Art Train @ Driving Creek Railway & Potteries
Sunday 2nd, 9th & 16th May 2010
The Art Train will provide a unique opportunity for you to stop along the tracks to get up close to the art works you pass on the way up to the Eyefull Tower.
The Art Train will offer a leisurely Two & a quarter hr excursion stopping at several sites on the way for passengers to alight, examine & photograph the art works as they wish.  On reaching the Eyefull Tower where other art works are displayed, Barry Brickell will give a talk & there will be ample time for lunch & refreshments & for taking in the panoramic views.
After returning to the potteries station, visitors will be able to take an optional guided walk through the Wildlife Sanctuary and view the large sculptures & visit the Sculpture Garden at the Potteries.  You can also see the new architect-designed art gallery under construction adjacent to the potteries.

ARC Roadcraft K2

The RoadCraft K2 is the toughest one day cycle challenge in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also one of the most scenic and varied with the route traveling through sub tropical forest, pacific coastlines, rural farmland and the Pohutukawa coastline of the Hauraki Gulf. This years race marks the 8th anniversary of the RoadCraft K2 and this year the race will start in Whitianga and travel in an anticlockwise direction through Coromandel Town, Thames, Tairua.and back to Whitianga. The Great Cranleigh Kauri Run

The Great Cranleigh Kauri Run is a 32km or 13km Trail run or walk which takes place on the stunningly beautiful Northern Coromandel Peninsula. Both events start on the white sands of Waikawau Beach on the eastern coast of the peninsula with the 32km event finishing in Coromandel Township and the 13km event finishing at the White Star Station, close to Colville, both located on the western side of the peninsula.
